Emily + Andrew

Downtown St. Louis / Old Post Office / Citygarden

We met Emily last summer when she was in Ashley and Jeremey's wedding and we loved her from her from the start!  I guess she loved us too because she booked us for her 2016 wedding with Andrew as we were leaving A+J's wedding reception.   Don't you just love a girl that knows what she wants!

Since they both live out of town and have schedules that are tough to align, we knew that Christmas would be our best option.  We really lucked out on the weather.  It was a little chilly, but not bad at all.  They even brought their dog Scout along.  Thanks mom for being the Scout's wrangler!

Favorite moment from the day?  Has to be when we realized how Emily has to get on her tippiest of toes to kiss Andrew.  He is one tall guy!

We started at the Old Post Office and then headed over to Citygarden after a wardrobe change.

A little more about Emily and Andrew...

What was your first date?: Our first "date" occurred on November 23, 2011. My best friend (and Maid of Honor) entrusted my care to Andrew when she left for the evening. We had been talking on a daily basis for a little under a year, so we were both pretty comfortable with each other.

Our first REAL date occurred a week later, when Andrew invited me down to Meridian, Mississippi for his squadron's Christmas party. My dad did NOT want me driving down the "backroads" of Mississippi alone. He pulled a "Dad move" and asked me to email the Highway Patrol of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi to make sure the roads were safe. When I told Andrew, he said he would just meet me halfway in Memphis, and we parked my car at an airport lot. It was the first of many car rides together!

How did he propose?: He proposed on August 1, 2014, exactly five years from the day we had first met at the Mascoutah Homecoming. He took me to Dam Neck Beach (in Virginia Beach) in the POURING rain. While I trudged along in the wet sand, he ran up ahead and tied my ring to our dog's collar. We played catch with Scout for about 15 minutes, and then Andrew attempted to call Scout over to us. Scout was too enamoured with playing in the sand, but she eventually came over. He got down and put his arm around Scout, and that's when I saw that a ring was dangling from her collar. Andrew said, "I was wondering if you wanted to marry me?" and I started crying. Obviously, I said yes.

What is the mixtape of your relationship?: -

  1. Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show
  2. Alabama High Test - Old Crow Medicine Show (it isn't because we're drug addicts or anything... it's because Andrew sings it at the top of his lungs and knows every single word, and I think it's the funniest thing to ever happen.)
  3. We are Never Getting Back Together - Taylor Swift (Probably a little immature, but it's one of our favorites to sing in the car together...)
  4. Home is Wherever I'm With You -  Edward and the Magnetic Zeros (Andrew put this on a mixed CD for me once, and I listened to it as I was pulling away from his house in Meridian for the last time before he moved to Virginia. The song just really resonated with me, especially because we were in a long distance relationship for so long. It continues to resonate with me because of his job and the fact that we have to spend so much time apart!)

Is there a tv show you two can't miss?: American Horror Story (I can't watch Freak Show without Andrew! Twisty the Clown scares the bejeezus out of me!) Parks and Recreation, Jeopardy!, Modern Family

Any pets?: Scout

What is your date style?: Watching Netflix at home with some wine and cheese

Andrew, what do you claim as your hometown?: Belleville, IL

Emily, what do you claim as your hometown?: St. Louis, MO

Do either of you have a hobby? If so, what is it?: Andrew likes to fly jets, and he likes to talk about flying jets. He also likes to build things (of special note: our beautiful desk/bookcase combo in our office) and he also likes to fix things around the house. He loves to spread Christmas cheer (his call sign is Buddy the Elf) and he also likes to do all of the outdoorsy things that I don't like to do. (Camping, hiking, fishing, all that good stuff!) It still needs to be determined if Andrew likes to fold laundry or if he just does it because I hate it.

I like to teach English, which is great because that's my job. I love to read and write. I also love to cook and bake. I also love to have Netflix marathons when Andrew isn't at home.

In our free time, we are both crazy dog owners. We love to spoil our dog, Scout, and we enjoy re-writing songs for her. We're still searching for a record label to release our album, 'Some Puppy to Love: Songs about Scout"

Where are you getting married?: St. Francis of Xavier College Church

Where is your reception?: Lemp Mansion Grand Hall

What will the bridesmaids be wearing?: Short, blue dresses. (Probably cobalt blue, but navy is the back up)

What will the groomsman be wearing?: Naval Choker Whites until they change after toasts.

What color theme have you chose for your wedding?: Cobalt Blue (or Navy), Gold/Champagne, and touches of blush.

Nichole is married to TJ Oldani. Together they are Oldani Photography.
