St. Louis Wedding Photographers - Forest Park Engagement Photos by Oldani Photography
Forest Park / St. Louis
Joy and Jeff had us when they said "breakfast for dinner" themed reception. Seriously?! It was like they knew us. We always joke that we want to have our couples over for pancakes. That is how you truly measure a connection. But in all seriousness, we just knew that they had to be lovers of life.
We had so many ideas about fun things to do for their engagement session. The one idea that kept coming up was picking apples and baking a pie. Thanks to the weather, we ran out of time so we had to switch gears. That is when they told us about the Christmas presents. Perfect!
I promise you that we had this date locked in long ago and the snow was a beautiful surprise. It started to fall at the beginning of our session and by the end we were transferred to a magical snowy new world. If you live in St. Louis you know Forest Park is such a popular spot. To be virtually the only ones in the park was an amazing feeling. We had this whole serene space to ourselves. Joy and Jeff couldn't have been any better. It was the perfect storm.
Scroll down to learn more about Joy and Jeff...
What was your first date?: After a few times hanging out together with mutual friends, Jeff called and asked Joy to join him for dinner at his favorite restaurant. It was a quiet snowy night in January. Jeff & Joy talked and laughed over dinner and dessert. Then they met up with some of Jeff's friends for late-night drinks. Joy knew Jeff really liked her when he asked her to come over the next day to meet his dog.
How did he propose?: It happened on Saint Patrick's Day...
Joy and Jeff had settled into their typical Monday night routine. They had finished dinner and were watching t.v. when Jeff asked Joy if she'd like to see a new trick he taught the dogs. Joy was playing a game on her phone and barely looked up to tell him yes. He then told her she needed to get off the couch and come in the kitchen to see the trick. Joy was annoyed that she had to stop playing her game but paused it and followed Jeff into the kitchen.
He asked her to hold 3 dog treats in her hand and shut her eyes. Joy did as she was directed but opened her eyes after a few moments..."SHUT YOUR EYES!" Jeff yelled, and Joy shut her eyes again.
Joy could only imagine what Jeff had taught the dogs. She was hoping he had somehow taught Mike to stand on Louis' back the way that goats can sometimes be stacked up on top of one another. She had seen that once on the internet and was picturing Mike, Louis, and Charlotte stacked on top of one another when Jeff told her she could open her eyes.
Joy looked down to find that each dog was sitting in front of her with a small cardboard sign hung around their neck. The signs read, "Will", "You", "Marry"....and there was Jeff, down on one knee, holding a sign that read, "Me?"
Joy said "Yes!" followed by, "Oh my god, we're in sweatpants!!"
They laughed and hugged and kissed each other.
Joy gave the dogs many treats to celebrate.
Jeff gave Joy a beautiful ring.
