What was your first date?:  We met on a ski trip in 2011, our junior year of college in Copper Mnt, Colorado. Maddie went to school at Mizzou and I went to Kansas State but I grew up in Columbia. After the ski trip we continued to talk and I asked Maddie on our first date when she was back in Columbia and before I had to go back to school for Spring semester. We went to Sophia's in Columbia and that is when we learned how much we both enjoyed cooking and of course eating lots of food :)

Tell us the story of the proposal?:  We like to ski and try to make it out to Colorado at least once a year. I knew that I wanted to take her back to Copper Mountain where it all started and propose. The only issue now was that all of her friends and their mothers were telling Maddie that she was getting engaged on the trip. I had to throw her off the scent. Leading up to the trip - Libby (Maddie's Mom) and I were ehhh a little mean telling her that it was not happening because she is in school and timing wise we should just wait until after graduation to get married. After weeks of this we were certain that she no longer believed it was happening (we felt bad but knew it was worth it). In Colorado we were staying with a cousin in Vail. Somehow we had to get to Copper without Maddie suspecting anything so they made this elaborate story about friends meeting us there for brunch. Maddie had been on a binge of getting more pictures of the two of us so when we got to the restaurant I said that we should just get them "out of the way" before eating. In Copper there is a bridge with a sign and this was where we had our first kiss. I knew that this is where I wanted to do it. Just as we begin to start taking pictures and I get on one knee, an entire bus of people got let off and have to walk across the bridge in between us and her cousins who were videoing and taking pictures. What timing... Finally they cleared and as we smiled to take a picture I got down on one knee. After the screams and cries and denial that it was actually happening - she said yes (I might have been known to "tie my shoe" quite a bit). Then we were able to take a bunch of pictures where we met and on top of Vail Mountain that turned out beautiful.

What is the mixtape of your relationship?:  Dave Matthews, Train, Ray Lamontagne, and for David's sake we would have to throw a little MJ in there :)

Any pets?:  One dog named Bear. He was our "suppose to be medium sized 40 lb dog"...85 lbs later we still love our giant Schnoodle

What is your date style?:  Trendy restaraunt

David, What do you claim as your hometown?:  Columbia, MO

Madeline, What do you claim as your hometown?:  St. Louis, MO

Do either of you have a hobby? If so, what is it?:  We both enjoy to cook and we spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes. Running is another hobby we have in common and ran our first half marathon together last year. We have played a lot of league teams together including softball and soccer. Maddie has had to move on from playing but David continues to play on the soccer team every week.

Nichole is married to TJ Oldani. Together they are Oldani Photography.
